Life of an Urban Coyote

Curious about where urban coyotes go when the sun sets? After reviewing hundreds of hours of video footage from specialized camera collars, Carson Daniel (MNR 2023) just helped coordinate a social media campaign surrounding the data she spend the last year painstakingly going through. Because of that, we now have a sneak peek into what a typical night-in-the-life of an Atlanta coyote looks like. Early insights from footage show during daylight, Atlanta coyotes typically lie low in dense cover like forests or kudzu patches. Once night falls and human activity dies down, these nocturnal explorers become more active, often venturing into more developed areas of the city.— and Wildlife Atlanta
