Introduction
Thank you for checking out our lab group here at the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. As I have openings for positions, I will post that information here as well as on traditional websites such as Texas A&M. I will also post on Twitter, so feel free to follow me on there @micheltkohl for those updates. If you like the work we do, and are interested in attending the University of Georgia as one of my students, I strongly encourage you to look over the following information under graduate positions.
Technician Positions

We will be hiring black bear technicians for Winter and Summers 2025 and beyond to assist on our bear project in South Georgia in and around the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. Application information will be posted a approximately 4 months before field work begins. You can reach out to Alex Coombs (see Our Team page) for potential black bear positions.
WARNING: This is a rough place to do fieldwork! The Okefenokee swamp includes potential interactions with alligators, venomous snakes, and bears, in hot, humid, buggy conditions. If you are not comfortable in this environment, please do not apply.
Graduate Positions
I do not currently have any funding available to support additional graduate students for Spring 2024 or Fall 2024. If you are still interested in joining our lab and may have potential funding to support yourself, please reach out and we can discuss potential options. [Regarding supporting funds, I do not mean you paying out of pocket, I will not allow a student to pay for their own graduate program, and YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE TO in wildlife; rather I am referring to fellowship support (e.g., NSF GRFP)]
